Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve Awarded Grant by National Park Foundation

The Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve was recently awarded a 2012 Impact Grant by the National Park Foundation. The National Park Foundation is a non-profit organization that serves as one of the primary charities of National Parks in the US. The funding from this grant will contribute to the continued efforts of the Passage for Pronghorn project, which works to improve the pronghorn migration corridor by removing or altering fences.

Pronghorn Migration Study featured in High Country News

The latest issue of High Country News features wildlife migration. One article describes the importance of private lands for sustaining pronghorn migration. This article mentions the pronghorn migration study conducted by the Lava Lake Institute, in partnership with the Pioneers Alliance.

First levy project approved in Blaine County

The Blaine County Commissioners have approved the first levy project. The grant awarded will contribute to the protection of over 1,000 acres on Flat Top Ranch in Southern, Idaho and sustain a conservation easement that helps to protect an important corridor for pronghorn migration. Sawtooth Forum and Lecture Series

The Sawtooth Forum and Lecture Series will cover many interesting topics relating to the Sawtooth-Salmon River country.

Tess O’Sullivan, Director of Lava Lake Institute for Science and Conservation, will start off the lecture series on July 8th sharing her research on challenges facing local pronghorn antelope.

Most lectures will be held at 5 pm each Friday at the Stanley Museum and repeated at 8 pm Friday evening at the Redfish Center.
